Disorders Screened in Rhode Island
Rhode Island does NOT provide the full panel of screenings recommended by Save Babies Through Screening Foundation. Parents should seek supplemental screening for the disorders and conditions not included in the state's panel.
The disorders that are screened, or likely to be detected, by your state's program are identified by the National Newborn Screening and Genetics Resource Center in simplified format or in PDF format.

Rhode Island added 17 disorders to its screening panel in July, 2006. The state began screening for Medium Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MCADD) on July 1, 2002.
Newborn Screening Advisory Committee
Rhode Island has a Newborn Screening Advisory Committee (NBSAC). The Rhode Island NBSAC is a subcommittee of the Genetic Advisory Committee, which was appointed by the Director of Health.
