Disorders Screened in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania does NOT mandate the full panel of screenings recommended by Save Babies Through Screening Foundation. However, all but a few Pennsylvania hospitals contract with PerkinElmer Genetics, Inc. for 50+ disorders. Parents should determine whether their hospital is one of those with a contract to screen for more than 50 disorders. If it is not, parents should seek supplemental screening for the disorders and conditions not included in Pennsylvania's panel.

The disorders that are required to be screened by Pennsylvania's program are identified by the National Newborn Screening and Genetics Resource Center in simplified format or in PDF format.
