Disorders Screened in Nebraska
Nebraska offers optional newborn screening to supplement the required screening. Diseases and conditions apparent through supplemental screening will be reported even if they are not included in the required screening.
The disorders that are required to be screened by your state's

General Information
Nebraska's newborn screening is provided by PerkinElmer Genetics, Inc.. The state offers supplemental screening as an option. Parents should be certain to sign the informed
consent form to be sure their baby receives the supplemental screening.
Screening for
Congenital
Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) and
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) became a requirement in January, 2006.
It was reported in August, 2004, that approximately 95% of families opt to have
their baby receive the supplemental screening.
Nebraska has a
Sickle
Cell Disease Foundation. (Jan. 2001).
