JOIN the NBS Email ANNOUNCEMENT and News List
The purpose of this list is to keep interested individuals informed and up-to-date on newborn screening issues as they occur. This list was established in April 2000 and currently has approximately 500 subscribers. Subscribers to this list receive approximately 10 emails per month from the list.

NBS Email DISCUSSION List - CLOSING
This list was established in April 2000 and currently has approximately 200 subscribers. The purpose has always been for members to post messages to the list and communicate with one another about NBS issues. When this list was established, subscribers received approximately 25 emails per month from the list. Due to the many positive changes in state mandates regarding NBS, posts to this list are currently 1 email per month. For this reason, Save Babies Through Screening has decided the time has come to disband the discussion list as it no longer serves the purpose for which it was started. Additionally, no new members are being added at this time.

From the control page, you can:

• Change your email address (address messages are sent to)
• Unsubscribe from the list
• Read archived messages
• Find messages posted to the list
• Turn off your messages while you're on vacation or away
• Change how you receive messages (a daily digest of all messages for the day or as they post)

Rules of the Discussion List
Discussion list members must observe the rules and procedures listed below. Any list serve member who does not abide by one or more rules is subject to being removed permanently from the list.

By subscribing to the list, you indicate that you have read and agreed to all the rules below.   

1. List Disclaimer
   When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone.  Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated.  It's fine to disagree strongly with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. Great minds do not always think alike, and that's where we learn from one another!  
   
   Also, note that messages express the thoughts of the writers, not the board or its moderators.  Save Babies Through Screening merely hosts the Newborn Screening Discussion List, making the communication forum possible.  The list serve is provided as a public service, and any messages posted to the list serve does not necessarily represent endorsement by Save Babies Through Screening (previously known as Tyler For Life Foundation), nor does any message necessarily reflect or represent the opinion, views, or position of the Save Babies Through Screening. SBTS is the provider of the service for the list serve, much like the phone company provides phone service to your residence or business.

2. Signature
   All messages posted to the list serve must contain your "signature", including your Name, City, State, Country and Relationship to NBS. Here is an example:

   John and Jane Doe Parents to Jack, Age 3, Disorder Any Town, Any State USA

   Jane Doe, PhD Institution Any Town, Any State Contact Information

3. Attachments
   Do not post messages that have file attachments, use different fonts, and/or uses all capital (upper case) letters.

4. Non-related Discussions
   Discussions not related to newborn screening and/or disorders detectable through newborn screening are not allowed on the list serve. Commercial advertising and chain letters (jokes, poems, unrelated stories & letters, etc.) of any sort are not allowed on the List Serve. All emails to the list serve MUST pertain to newborn screening and/or disorders detectable through newborn screening.
   

5. List Is Moderated
   The Newborn Screening Discussion List is moderated. All messages go through a filtering system before being posted to insure they are not marketing junk mail, contain profanity, flames, insults, and/or personal attacks. All messages that are sent to the group are carefully checked before being passed on to every member of the List Serve. However even our wonderful moderator is human and the occassional item can slip past her keen eye so use care when composing your posts. Any message that is denied posting will be returned to the sender with an explanation of why the post was denied and will not be released/posted to the list.
   
   Please use your own judgment about the contents of all posts. Content may include opinions and beliefs, not necessarily facts (even though they may be stated as facts).  Members of the list serve are responsible for checking the accuracy, completeness, currency, and/or suitability of all information posted to the list serve, whether posted by themselves or by others. Any information posted to the list serve is for educational purposes only, and should not be interpreted or relied upon as, professional advice, whether medical or otherwise.
   

6. Behavior
   While all posts are moderated, our moderator does not want to see certain behaviors. Personal attacks or the use of profanity is prohibited and will be grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the list serve. Rude or hostile verbal attacks towards anyone will not be tolerated. Please be sure that all comments are respectful and tactful. Anyone who engages in personal attacks or uses profanity is subject to immediate and permanent removal from the list.
   

7. Membership
   The list serve is open to individuals interested in newborn screening issues. However, persons intending to join the list for business, research and/or marketing purposes, or with any type of litigious or vicious intent, are prohibited from joining the list. Any list member who inappropriately imposes themselves and/or their business/research/marketing needs on the list, or collecting/publishing data or discussions without prior written permission, from Save Babies Through Screening and the original poster of any message, will be immediately and permanently removed from the list serve. This list serve has strict policies against such intrusive and inappropriate "research" and will not tolerate such intent or behavior.
   

8. Forwarding of Messages
   Messages posted to the list serve may not be forwarded to any other forum, individual or group, nor may any message by copied or duplicated in any form, whether in part or whole,  without prior written permission from the Save Babies Through Screening and the original poster of the message.
