Save Babies Through Screening Foundation's accomplishments would not be possible without the support of many concerned parents, medical professionals and consumers. Four million babies are born each year in the United States.  Only 400,000 of those babies, a mere 10%, receive adequate comprehensive newborn screening.  The rest are left to chance, possibly facing mental retardation, physical disability or even death.  Many of these inadequately screened children will die suddenly as infants and be declared victims of sudden infant death syndrome, which they are not.  Early detection, diagnosis, and treatment can provide maximum benefit to affected children.  Every gift, whether large or small, will help us to protect more children affected by these disorders.

Save Babies Through Screening Foundation (previously known as Tyler For Life Foundation) is a non-profit volunteer organization.  Your donations will directly benefit the cause and the children affected by newborn screening disorders.

Donate in memory or in honor of a loved one

To make a donation in memory or in honor of a loved one, simply mail your check to the address above.  Please also consider making a donation to Save Babies Through Screening Foundation in lieu of gifts for special occasions such as birthdays, holidays, graduations, or anniversaries.  Memorial and honor acknowledgments will be issued for such donations provided you supply a name and address for mailing. 

Donate through the United Way

Make a donation by participating in a United Way Write-In Campaign.  Because of our 501(c)3 status, Save Babies Through Screening Foundation qualifies for the United Way write-in option.

The United Way begins its annual fundraising drive in the fall of each year. The United Way provides a way for many charities to obtain funds by individuals contributing a small portion of their paycheck through payroll deduction. Each United Way chapter lists a variety of local organizations that may be chosen for payroll deductions, and since Save Babies Through Screening Foundation is a national organization, our name is not usually provided on this list of charities. However, the majority of United Way chapters also allow individuals to write in the charity of their choice.

Our 501(c)(3) non-profit status qualifies us for this write-in option and provides us with much needed funds for our advocacy, education and research projects. You can initiate a write-in campaign in your workplace by contacting your company's United Way chairperson to ask if there is a write-in option and if so, the possibility of informing the rest of the employees about the Save Babies Through Screening Foundation Write-in Campaign. Most co-workers are eager to donate to a cause that is personally tied to a colleague.

You should reach out to other employees to let them know of the United Way write-in campaign and about the Save Babies Through Screening Foundation. You may want to post a letter or flyer on the office bulletin board or place a poster in the lunch area that asks your fellow employees to join you in the write-in campaign.

 Calling all Federal employees

Federal, military, and U.S. Postal Service employees can make payroll contributions to Save Babies Through Screening Foundation through the Combined Federal Campaign, making it convenient to give by spreading the contribution across the entire year. Complete a pledge card (available through your payroll department or Agency Campaign Coordinator) and indicate Save Babies Through Screening Foundation’s 2007 CFC # 10398 ; then give the pledge card to the Agency Campaign Coordinator for processing.
