Expression of Appreciation
A family whose child was diagnosed with galactosemia at birth visited their state newborn screening laboratory. They gave out NBS lapel pins and homemade cookies as a token of their appreciation for all the workers had done to help save their child.
Newborn screening pins are available. They are red, white and gold and feature the DNA symbol, a few drops of blood, and the letters “NBS” for newborn screening. Price is $3.00.

Word of Mouth Campaign
Help raise screening awareness by sharing your story in a word of mouth awareness campaign. The next time you see any of your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers or anyone who is expecting a baby, tell them about the need for supplemental newborn screening and use of overnight services to transport their child’s NBS specimen.
